Hygiene Rating Scheme
The FSSAI Hygiene Rating Scheme is a transparent, web-based system that assesses and rates food establishments based on their compliance with food safety regulations. It aims to certify businesses while enabling consumers to make better decisions. The scheme's goals are to:
• Motivate food businesses to enhance their hygiene and safety practices.
• Provide consumers with the necessary information to choose food outlets wisely.
Who can apply?
Following food businesses can apply for Hygiene Rating Scheme:
1. Food Service Establishments (such as hotels, restaurants, cafeteria, dhabhas, etc)
2. Meat Retail Shops
3. Sweet Shops
4. Bakery Shops
How to get Hygiene rated?
Food Business Operators seeking a Hygiene Rating must meet the following requirements:
• Hold a valid FSSAI License or Registration, adhere to Schedule 4 standards, and display FSDBs.
• Designate Food Safety Supervisors trained under the FoSTaC program.
• Conduct regular testing of food and water samples (applicable only to licensed FBOs).
Please Note: License/Certificate can be applied for a maximum period of 5 Years.
