As per FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), all food businesses having Central Licenses or State Licenses should have at least one trained and certified Food Safety Supervisor for every 25 food-handlers or part thereof on all their premises. The Food Safety Supervisor is trained to recognize and prevent risk associated with food handling in food businesses and can also provide guidance to food handlers about hygiene and sanitary practices while handling the food items. This capacity building initiative for food business operator will eventually create a culture of self- compliance.
